GRAIN II call for proposals: EmpowerHerAI

Support for the scaling up of solutions integrating gender equality in the fields of agriculture, education and African languages

As part of the second phase of GRAIN (Gender and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Network), the "EmpowerHerAI" project, led by the IPAR, CSEA and Sunbird AI consortium and funded by IDRC, is supporting 4 innovative projects for inclusive, responsible and equitable AI in Africa.

The project aims to support existing innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) that effectively integrate gender and inclusion issues in the fields of agriculture, education-STEM or the translation and enhancement of African languages, and to co-construct a GEDI framework.

Specifically, the aim is to support four (4) African solutions that have already been developed and require support to incorporate GEDI principles in their scaling-up phase.

Assistance offered :

- Personalised technical support

- Support for structuring and documenting their GEDI approach

- Access to a community of practice

- Support for scaling up

Eligibility criteria

- Be an African organisation (NGO, university, company, laboratory).

- Have a functional AI solution or one currently being tested in one of the three areas mentioned.

- Ability to work in French and/or English.

Applications from French-speaking Africa are encouraged.
