GRAIN has selected Kwara State University and its AI4WIA 2.0 project to jointly develop a GEDI matrix for use in the agricultural calendar.

As part of Phase II of the GRAIN (Gender and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Network) project, KWASU has been selected to take part in the co-development of a GEDI (Gender – Equality – Diversity – Inclusion) matrix. This selection forms part of an initiative to support existing AI solutions with a view to integrating the principles of gender equality and inclusion in a structured manner.

The AI4WIA 2.0 project aligns with the «agriculture and AI» priority area. The project aims to roll out and improve an AI-based agricultural calendar, developed during the first phase, with a focus on the inclusion of women farmers and young leaders. In particular, the project will train 50 women and young leaders, produce practical guides for the inclusive roll-out of agricultural AI, as well as policy briefs and best-practice guidelines for stakeholders in innovation and agricultural development.

Implemented in both English-speaking and French-speaking communities in Nigeria, AI4WIA 2.0 will draw on co-design workshops, training sessions and the collection of user feedback in order to adapt the tool to local languages and contexts.

This collaborative learning initiative between GRAIN and KWASU aims to produce a contextualised GEDI matrix based on experiences in the field.
