Morocco's Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has launched an innovative summer school aimed at empowering African women in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
The "African Women in Tech & AI" programme, the fruit of collaboration between the OCP Foundation and UM6P's AI Movement Centre, aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and resources they need to excel in a digitised global economy.
The programme includes an intensive training phase focusing on female leadership, the application of AI, market research and project management. Participants will hone their skills through case studies, interactive workshops and the development of project proposals.
The first cohort of the programme is made up of 34 women from a variety of backgrounds in 11 African countries. These participants, who include entrepreneurs, researchers, engineers and professionals, are keen to have a positive impact on their communities.
The first phase of the programme included online training sessions covering a variety of AI-related topics over 36 hours, including AI sub-domains, its adoption in businesses and successful implementations in Africa.
The programme aims to empower African women to drive innovation and change by providing them with a platform to lead and shape the future of technology in Africa.
